5 of My Favorite Things #1

Hello my lovely readers! Today’s post is the first in a series I’m aiming to start. Every once in a while, I’ll share a post like this telling you guys all about my five current favorite things!

The first of my favorites is already pictured above :). Grace Kelly (a 1950s American actress turned princess, read her story here if interested) is one of my biggest inspirations, and this week in photo class I had the chance to recreate one of the portraits she took. The photo to the left is the one I took, and the right was the inspiration. The project was so much fun, and spending a lot of time and effort on it was 100% one of my recent favorite things.

Forgive me if this is a little childish, but my second favorite thing right now are the Sour Patch Watermelon gummy candies. They’re super unhealthy and all, but just so freaking good. They even vaguely have a watermelon taste, rather than just being sour and sugary! These are my guilty pleasure, and were by my side all of last weekend while spring cleaning (stay tuned, a post is coming!).

This next item is my new child. Literally. Well, not literally but you know what I mean. Purchased over spring break with my hard earned tutoring money, this wallet has been at my side ever since. It’s actually the first major, designer item I’ve ever bought and I’m incredibly proud of it. I was actually torn between this and a new pair of nice sunglasses, but after some convincing from a friend went with this choice (and ordered new sunnies from ASOS!). It’s made of a beautiful black leather, and the inside features to spaces to tuck receipts and cash, along with ample gift card/debit card room and a coin section. It’s so, pretty, and I regret nothing about this purchase (I’m considering it an early graduation gift to myself 🙂 )

While quite a bit less exciting, this fourth favorite has quickly become one of my “holy grails”. After trying out one of these babies from a friend (this baby in particular being the EOS Pomegranate Raspberry Lip Balm) I was hooked and had to get one of my own. Inexpensive, this little guy does his job of keeping my lips soft (a necessity in the dry Los Angeles climate) and smelling absolutely delicious (and it tastes great too!).

And last but not least I present to you the pants that I have been living in: my Lululemons. They are the Wunder Undercrop, and were bought semi-impulsively during a spring break trip to Santa Barbara. My friends warned me that once I tried them on I wouldn’t want to take them off, and that rang true. These are incredible and fully live up to the hype surrounding them. The band keeps them a little bit fashionable, and the fabric/fit are both so comfortable. Reversible, I can even pull off wearing them to school twice in one week 😉 (but don’t tell anybody!).

I hope that you all have enjoyed this post, thank you so much for reading! What are your current must-haves? Comment below, I’d love to hear!

Color Blocked Nail Art!

photo 2 (12)

Hello my lovely readers! Today’s post is all about the nails I rocked a week ago for Easter Sunday. I’m pretty new to the nail art game, but had been dying to try a little something extra, so this design worked out perfectly! It’s pretty easy to master, and I’m pretty proud of the way mine came out after my first try 🙂

The polishes I used are by Morgan Taylor in the shades Color Me Bold (an electric orange) and Birthday Suit (the perfect nude for my light skin tone). I’m not sure where you can purchase these in stores (I got mine in a goody bag while interning at LAFW) but I found both shades online here and here.

While I kind of winged my technique while doing this design, I found a tutorial here. The only difference when I did it was that I layered two pieces of tape over one another to create the triangle. Both techniques work just fine though!

Two tips: be sure your nails are 200% dry before adding the tape onto your base color, and be sure to press down on the tape so that lines stay clean 🙂

If any of you end up trying this out, be sure to comment below and link me to your results!! I’d love to see 😀

Denim Blue

photo 1 (16)

Hello my lovely readers! Today I bring you a comfortable yet very put together look, I’ve worn it twice in the past week. It works in a variety of situations; for example I wore it on a trip to the LACMA last Friday and to school this past week. The weather here in Los Angeles has been quite nice this week. While I’m upset that we didn’t get any rain this winter, it’s nice to feel some warmth, and to begin the attempt to look even the slightest bit tan before leaving for Europe this summer 😀

I’ve been loving my Converse lately, there’s something so down to earth about them. As for skirts, I’m sure you can tell I’m obsessed. I think they’re the perfect transition into summer, right before the shorts season fully starts. To make skirts more comfortable for school, I always layer some spandex underneath. Then there’s no accidental flashing!

Now moving on to the focus of this outfit: my denim jacket (also known as my newest love). For weeks I had been lusting after one similar to this at Topshop (linked below). However, after discussing the topic with my mom, she brightly replied, “I have one in my closet that you can have!”. Thus, I scored this killer jacket for no money 🙂 For me, it ties together the outfit. Not only does it add something more to the simple skirt and shirt combo, but it also succeeds in keeping me warm in my arctic classrooms. Also it gives off a cool vibe in my opinion, and balances out the girly vibe of that skirt.

For school I like to keep my makeup simple and natural. I added some lip color here (Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop) but other than that my face stays pretty basic (I value my sleep in the morning, and save more heavy makeup for the weekends).

And here’s one last outtake 🙂 As my brother and I were out shooting on the street, our dog Lucy wandered over and of course I had to bend down to give her a cuddle! 🙂 It actually has to be one of my favorite pictures of the day.

The Easter Romper

photo 5 (9)

Hello my lovely readers! I hope you all had a lovely Sunday yesterday, regardless of celebrating Easter of not! Personally, I had a great day, hunting for eggs in the morning (you’re never too old!), brunching at noon, and finishing up my AP Literature term paper in the evening (might not sound like fun, but I’m extremely satisfied with my final product!). I chose to spend my day dressed in this romper, one I picked up a while back in Palm Springs. Rompers are my absolute favorite!

What I really love about it is the fun back. For once I’m going to say this, but thank goodness I don’t tan! Could you just imagine those tan lines? I really wish I remember where I got this romper from, but I can’t for the life of me. So I found a similar one that you can check out here! The bandeau is from the same boutique, and you can find a similar one here!

While the footwear might seem a bit unusual, I thought that the Birkenstocks added a perfect laid back vibe to the outfit! And my toes matched with my bandeau 🙂 If interested, you can find the Birkenstocks here.

For my makeup I wore my beloved liquid liner with a simple and fresh face. The necklace is from a vendor booth at The Grove, however you can find similar ones on Etsy.

Lastly, some details. I painted my nails to match the outfit (obviously). Stay tuned for a post coming up about the nails, focusing on how I did them and what colors I used!

A Little Bit Of Back

photo 2 (7)

Hello my lovely readers! Let me begin by saying that I know it has been much too long, and for that I’m very sorry. School, college acceptances and the final rush of senior year has just been so much! I’m loving every second though 🙂

I started missing my blog and decided to make a solid effort to re-establish myself on here. I love taking pictures, writing, and posting for you guys! I also want this blog to be up and running because I have some big life events coming up in the next three months (graduation, goodbyes, and moving to Paris!). I definitely want you all to be a part of it.

That being said though, let’s get right back into posts, starting with this fashion one!

photo 2 (8)

Spring has arrived, and I’ve been obsessed with any skirt/shirt combination. There are countless ways to do this! Here I’ve chosen a look that’s a little bit more edgy, wearing dark Doc Martens. However, this look can also be made incredibly flirty; trying pairing a floral skirt with a lace top and some cute patent flats!

That concludes this “welcome back” post! Thank you so much to anybody that has stuck with me, I can wait to start talking with you again!

Any plans for Easter this Sunday? I’m planning on indulging in lots of chocolate 🙂
